Day of the Dead
Day of the Dead is celebrated in most of the western countries, This day is observed in order to pay tribute to the near and dear ones who are not with them any more, The same is also called as All Saint's Day in United States of America, All Soul's Day in Europe, Todos Los Santos in Philippines, Finados in Brazil. Whatever they call it! But the essence is to respect and remember the dead ones who are very close to them, Day of the Dead is celebrated on November 1 and 2
Traditions of Day of the Dead
2) On the Day of Dead people visit the cemeteries and decorate the graves with flowers and spend time with the deceased ones, may be a full day or a day and night with the souls.
3) In Modern Mexico this festival is dedicated to the Goddess Mictecacihuatl the "Lady of the Dead" , People believe that Mictecacihuatl is Queen of Miction, the underworld, Ruling over the afterlife along with her Husband Mictlanteouhtli
4)celebrities of the Day of the Dead carry food items,Sugar Skulls, photos and anything else which was liked by the deceased ones
5)People decorate the Graves with offerings and flowers, In particular flowers named Orange Mexican Marigolds (tagetes erecta) also called as Flower of the Dead or Flor De Muerto (20 flowers)

6)Deceased children or infants are honoured on November 1 and Adults are honoured on November 2 in Mexico, November 1 is also called as "Day of Little Angels" and November 2 is referred to as " Day of the Dead "
7) Toys and Candies are offered to deceased children or infants on the day of little angels and an offering called pan de muerto (bread of the dead) is offered to deceased adults on the day of dead
8) People wear Masks which depict skulls on their faces to celebrate the day of dead also called Halloween

9) Children in Halloween costumes roam on the streets and knock doors of neighbours for small gifts like candies or money
10) In Latin America, People celebrate by flying giant kites and preparing a sacred dish Fimabre (A dish made of 50 ingredients) and offer it to the deceased ones and also play Loud music and dance all night beside the cemeteries to wake up the souls and hear their prayers
We Indians also celebrate the day of dead, but in a different way, obviously the style is different, whatever might be the way of expressing the purpose is just the same , Praying for peace of the dead souls
