2. Alcatraz

Alcatraz may very well be the most famous prison in the world. 3. Fisherman’s Wharf

Visit the Fisherman’s Wharf, where a countless number of seafood restaurants offer a limitless variety of seafood. One can also just walk along the boardwalk and enjoy the fresh ocean air and the lively atmosphere of tourists, locals and fishermen all intermingling.

4. Chinatown

No Chinatown outside of Asia is as large as the one in San Francisco. There are over 300 authentic Chinese restaurants scattered around as well as temples that anyone can visit. This place is extremely culturally diverse and quite populated; so take a day to walk through Chinatown.

One of the most famous bookstores in the country, this is the place where the “Beat Generation” was born. Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsburg, two of the United State’s most famous writers, both frequented this spot and held readings. This is where Ginsberg first read his poem "Howl”, which led to the historically important censorship case in the Supreme Court.
