Book your train ticket 120 days before
Indian Railways is serving us from long time and spreading smiles, to make it more comfortable Indian Railways has revised its time limit for minimum advance booking time from 90 days to 120 days as the demand for train tickets has been increasing rapidly and to avoid passengers from paying a hefty amount to get train tickets. This is a great move from Indian Railways.
This means you can now book the train tickets, 120 days from your journey date so today I can book a ticket for date 10 july 2012 (4 months from now) as shown below
Recently Indian Railways has changed its Tatkal booking time from 48 hours to 24 hours as it is observed that the travel agents are misusing the same and now the change in advance train ticket booking time ,irctc is improving and changing its policies to see smiles of Indian passengers
Change in Advance reservation period is not applicable for the foreign tourists, For Foreign tourists the advanced reservation period shall be 360 days as usual.

Very informative post, guys!! I wasn't aware that now u cud book 6 months in advance.. that's great!! :)
However, I still wish the tatkal system wud go back to 5 days in advance.. was much more comfortable n reassuring :)
