AR Rahman born on 06 th january 1966 in tamil nadu is  the pride of Indian celluloid who had taken Indian cinema to hold a Oscar. no doubt Our Music magician deserves a Oscar, AR Rahman beleives music is god and respects and loves music more than anything else in the world. AR Rahman's journey to Oscar was not a smooth one. we know his music very well and it is a part of our life but  many of us do not know some interesting and surprising facts about him , let's have a glance


His original name is A.S.Dileep kumar

His Father R.K.Sekhar is a famous Music Director in Malayalam Film Industry

A.R.Rahman was born in a Mudiliar family (A Hindu Caste in Tamil Nadu)

His Mother's name was Kasturi ( changed to Kareema Begum after changing their religion)





AR Rahman was not passionate of Music, He dreamt to become a Electronics or Computer Engineer.

He liked Synthesiser (gifted by his father),which was combo of music and technology

father died when he was at the age of 9 years, he started playing keyboard for Illaiyaraja to earn

His Sisters illness was cured by Sheikh Abdul Quadir, which made them convert to Islam



He studied at Trinity college of Music at OXFORD University
Oscar winning song " JAI HO " was initially composed for The Movie Yuvvaraj
Finally his love and divine respect for music brought him and our India two Oscars proudly

He is a amazing individual with love and respect towards music, family and God. Very down to earth person, who is not crazy about success and believes and propagates the saying  " Success is not constant " I salute A R Rahman for the way he excelled in feild of music. He is true inspiration for all who has taken his family burden and started working and earning at the age of 11 years.
