Revised IRCTC Cancellation Charges and Refund Rules
Now you cannot wait till 24 hours before departure of train to cancel the train ticket if you want to have full refund of ticket fare (except clerkage charges) because Indian Railways has revised its refund rules so the cancellation charges and the time to cancel the tickets has been revised.
Indian railways has revised the refund rules after a long period of 15 years, Many changes have occurred in Ticketing system of Indian Railways. The revised rules are aligned to help travellers who are more serious about travelling and discourage people who book extra tickets as a option?

It is very well understand from the above table that even RAC /Wait listed tickets cannot be cancelled after 3 hours after departure of train. this rules are applicable from 01 july 2013
